If you are racing for more than 24 hours and using a Spot device, you are going to have reset the device at some time during your race so that your device doesn’t stop periodically reporting your location. Here are the instructions on how to reset both Spot 1 and Spot 2 devices. If you are racing solo, make sure that you know how to do this. If you are racing on a team make sure that someone on the team knows how to do this.

While this process is not complicated, it does not take much to confuse a paddler that has had little or no sleep for 24 or more hours.



SPOT 1
To start tracking, press the on/off button to turn the unit on. The LED above the button will flash green.

Press the OK button for 10 seconds. This will cause the LED above the OK button to glow green for 8 seconds and then flash along with the LED above the on/off button.

To reset the SPOT (every 24 hours), press the on/off button to turn the unit off. Then press the on/off button again to turn the unit on. Press the OK button for 10 seconds. This will cause the LED above the OK button to glow green for 8 seconds and then flash along with the LED above the on/off button.


SPOT 2
To start tracking, press the on/off button to turn the unit on. The button will flash green.

Press and hold the tracking button until it also blinks green.

To reset the SPOT (every 24 hours), press the on/off button to turn the unit off. Then press the on/off button again to turn the unit on. The button will flash green.
Press and hold the tracking button until it also blinks green.
